Field Trips

Three Year Old Field Trip

The Three-Year Olds go on one field trip in the fall to Cosley Animal Farm. There they learn about how a farm is a home for animals, much like a house is a home for people. On field trip days, there is a change in the class time and location. Parents need to make arrangements to drop-off and pick-up their child at the specified location. At least two weeks notice will be given for any field trip. There is usually a minimal fee involved with this day.

Four-Year Old Field Trips

 and Special Guests

The Four-Year Olds go on several field trips. In the fall we go to Cosley Zoo and learn about grouping animals. During the winter, the Wheaton Park District visits the classroom and provides informative programs on animal adaptations (“Jackie Frost”), “Who’s the Wise Bird?” (Owls), and the “Unhuggables” (bees, bats, and spiders – nature’s super helping heroes). In the spring, we go to the Lincoln Marsh to learn about mice (“Mouse Walk”) and insects (“Insectmania”). We also walk to Dairy Queen and have ice cream with our Fourth Grade Buddies each May.

On field trip days, there is a change in the class time and location. Parents need to make arrangements to drop-off and pick-up their child at the specified location. At least two weeks notice will be given for any field trip. We try to schedule guest speakers and field trips on half days so that the afternoon class does not miss learning time. At times, both classes may meet together for a field trip or special event.        There is usually a minimal fee involved with these days.
