YU continues to train liturgical ministers and serve the Mass every second Sunday of the month at 12:00. Do you feel called to participate? Our schedule is: May 18: Parent Party to follow! Please join us after the Mass in the Parish Center for lunch and to celebrate what a great renewal we have made this year and the people who made it happen. Handouts will be available for summer YU happenings as well as opportunities to volunteer for the next school year. June 1: Graduation Mass For training as a liturgical minister, contact Leslie Stopka at 630-462-5047. For participation in the TeenMusicMinistry, contact Chris Orf at 630-462-5005. |
Youth United is hosting a lock-in at the Brunswick Zone in Carol Stream on Friday May 30, midnight to 6:00am Saturday for all parish 8th graders. This will give you a chance to get to know the high schoolers currently involved in YU and make new friends in your own grade level from other schools. There will be arcade games, rides, laser tag, billiards, bowling, unlimited pizza & pop, a free shirt, donuts & juice time to pray and fun raffles and games. There will be no sleeping, so don’t worry about overnight gear; just wear comfortable, but appropriate clothing. The cost is $20 and a box of cereal. All cereal donations will be given to the People’s Resource Center. Forms will be sent home to all parish 8th graders along with when we will be meeting this summer. Chaperones will be needed for this event!

Friday Night LIVE! |
Fundraising for Summer Missions |
|
This is a new program to Youth United. Once a month, usually the third Friday, we will journey away from Wheaton to live God’s love for all people. On Friday May 16, 7:30-9:00PM, we are planning a trip to Aurora to the Feed My Starving Children work site. Feed My Starving Children is committed to feeding God's starving children hungry in body and spirit. Their approach is simple: Volunteers pack nutritious meals made up of rice, soy, vitamins and dehydrated vegetables, and they partner with relief organizations worldwide to distribute these meals to starving children. We invite you to join us in this important work. |
In an effort to help our kids go on mission trips this summer we have planned quite a few fundraisers in which it would be easy for parishioners to participate: © Parent Time-Out childcare night offered May 17, 6-10PM, in the Faith Center. © Car Washes at Wheaton Bowl on Saturdays, May 10 and 31, from 10am-2pm. © Eat Out! Culver’s in Carol Stream on April 17 & May 15, 10:30am-10:00pm. Tell them you are from St. Mike’s when you place your order and we will get a percentage. © Eat Out! McDonald’s in Danada on April 22 and May 20, 4-8pm. Tell them you are from St. Mike’s when you place your order and we will get a percentage. © Memorial Day Parade Bake Sale. We will be in the Plaza, corner of West & Illinois, with yummy baked goods and beverages you can enjoy while you watch the parade. Table will open at 9:00am.
